Andrew46826Tikka .308
Hi all
I have a Tikka LSA .308 it's 30 years old but looks brand new and has had less than 200 rounds through it. The trigger pull is set at 2 pounds and has a 22" barrel. On top is a bushnell elite 3200 3-9x40 scope. Im reloading my own ammo 46grains of 2208 and 155gr hornady amaxs with a muzzle velocity of 2800fps and a BC of about .453.
I have just put a bi-pod on the front of it but have not yet used it with the bi-pod. I found that I had trouble keeping steady without one and now I can hold it dead still.
I have managed to shoot .25" group at 100yds with it. Im wanting to know weather my scope is suitable to shoot tight groups out to 300yds and futher or do I need a higher power scope. What is a realistic maximum range for this scope?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Paul from nzyou could give it a go and see how you get on!
I have a VX-3 4.5-14 and id rather use 14power at 100yards than 9 power. 14power is deffinatly maxed out at 600 yards! actually to shoot any good id think id want over 20 power for 600 yards.
for real accurate shooting i think you would be maxing out that 9 power scope at 300 yards, and if u wanted to compete you'll want something a lot higher. I have shot at 300 yards with 9 power and it is very do-able, just make sure you have a good target.

Paul from nzhave a look at
www.mytargets.com and choose one that suits you best. have a look at the ones on
www.protargets.comI used one of the first targets off the protargets site. the cross-hairs seem to fit right into the spaces. i used it for 300yards with a 9 power scope.
Im sure others here could point you out to a good target website. do a search on this site for targets
