what case was used for 100 yard record?

a freind and I were talking and couldnt find what case Mac MacMillan was shooting when he shot .009 5 shot group at 100yards. Bench rest central has Mac MacMillin as the record holder in 9-23-73, but dosent mention what he was shooting. Its got to be on the web some were right? Jeremy

He used a .222. I was able to see the target and rifle at McMillans. I don't think that the record can be broken with the currant rules as you have to beat the old record by .009. Go figure.

Thanks for the info I lost a soda on our bet I thought it was 6mm. Oh well. I was just reading an outdoor life at the library today and there was an artical about the super shoot in Ohio and they mentioned his record. It would be amazing if one could even tie the .009. Thanks Jeremy

Larry Burchfield

You measure the distance outside to outside at the widest side and then subtract the diameter of the bullet.
The 6ppc was in development around the time you mentioned (73).
A new record has to be shot at a range employing moving target backers to ensure there were 5 shots fired.
