I just finished up an "F-TR" rifle that uses one of those bipods. It handily won its first match, and the owner says he really likes the bipod. It's adjustable every which way and the adjustments lock down solid. Not too heavy, and the price is reasonable considering how much machine work goes into it. Yeah, you could make your own but not for what they sell them for.
