poulsboAnyone try those new tagets that seal up after shooting?
In Cabelas they claim to leave a pin sized hole after impact no matter what caliber. Just wondering if it's just a gimmick.

poulsboI bought one of those steel spinning targets "good for any cal." so they claim. My 22-250 with 52gr speer match bullets bored holes right through it. what a P.O.S
I have a Champion self healing target. It's about 4" tall x 2" wide diamond shape spinner. I have shot at it with 22LR, 17HMR, 17Mach-2, 223, and 308. You can see where the bullet went through. But only a very small hole(pin size is a good description) The exit hole on the 308 is a bit bigger. I believe the target will last a very long time with rimfire shooting. With larger caliber centerfire rounds I think it would come apart after just a few hundred rounds.
My only problem is the wire stand that the target came with, it took only one errant shot to end it's life. Can't find a replacement. Will have to make my own I guess.

mad_jack02I went to my junk materials scrap yard and they sold me what they call high density foam board, the same thing what is at the popular rage here in town. They sold me a piece 2'x9'x2" for 20.00. made 3-2'x3' target backers.
