I have a Remington XR100 .223 that shoots real nice. I do not like the thumbhole stock that came on the rifle. I would like to know where I can get a stock with a nice flat forearm so it will not roll/twist while I am shooting. I know it is not a bench rest rifle, but I did get a 3 shot group less than .25 at 100 yards. I put a 1 pound pull Jewell trigger and a 8.5x25 Leupold scope on the rifle. I am just trying to squeeze all of the accuracy I can get out of the rifle.

I also have a question for you bench rest shooters. How tight do you have to hold your rifle to get a good group? It seems like I have to hold with a very tight back and some what down pressure or the rifle just wont shoot worth a darn.

Your help will be appreciated.

BTW I use Wilson Stainless Steel bench rest dies to load with.

I think that most B.R. shooters shoot the same way that I do, what is called free recoil. The only thing that toutches the gun is the trigger finger, and the gun is allowed to come back on its own. I am not sure on just how many do shoot this way, but it is a very good percentage.
Just thought that I would clarify this a bit after reading it. the shoulder is held an inch or two behind the butt stock and the gun is stopped when the stock hits the shoulder. Hopefully the bullet is long gone by this time.

Both McMillan and H S Precision offer BR stocks for your rifle. The Hunter Class stocks make great Varmint rifles.

I just had a gentleman in S. Dakota bed two McMillan HBR stocks for me, have one now and the other is having my dogs pic. painted on it. Excellant informal B.R. stock and doubles as a varmint stock just as well. Have two other HBR Kodiak actions that are in McMillan stocks, one in a regular HBR stock and the other in an HBR edge. The egde is great to shoot as far as recoil and all goes, but I can not get it to shoot properly.
