eezridrwatched show on area 51 this past weekend and they interviewed a few old guys that worked there. Spoke of the U2 and the SR 71. Some interesting information about the SR 71. It flew at + mach 3 or above 2000 mph, fly at 90,000 ft and the guys that flew them had to wear special suits that were very tailored to their exact dimensions. They said if they gained or lost 2 lbs it made the suits useless. It was an interesting program.

DuggaBoyeEarly 90's @ Oshkosh I got to see the Blackbird take off in Burner--from the "pit" area.
Unbelievable--irridescent purple rings of fire, teeth rattling noise--all about 250 ft away

Saw the SR-71 in the UK at Farnborough Air Show.
Superb aircraft.
I heard that when it came into land, it over shot and was in Europe before it managed to turn around.

TCLouisSomeplace I read an account of a Chinese national that was training in a 71, suffered a flameout(as I remember it) glided a few states and landed at some airport in Colorado.
Was I dreaming this or is there a book with this story?

There was a thread here posted about it, pretty interesting.
Busy right now, I'll find the link later and post it here.
