C-17 gets itself out of a pickle.

Not really a pickle, the C-17 is capable of short field operations. The big issue is it's unlikely the runway was stressed for the weight of a C-17. Also, the crew that landed there was most likely de-qualified and had to go through additional training and a checkride before being allowed to fly again. During my first tour in C-130s we also had a crew land on the wrong runway and they were de-qualified. The pilot went on to be a squadron commander, so it is a recoverable error.

Wonder if that was a barroom DARE?? Big Grin

At least it was a hard surfaced runway....

Wonder if Harrison Ford was flying it. He seems to be able to land anywhere.

That's one sky commander who needs his wings clipped before he kills a lot of people.

The FAA is a joke for allowing him to continue flying.

As much as I like the man, I have to agree.
