Crosswind Landings Can Be Fun.... Or Not
No the pilot was not practicing acrobatics... on purpose. But he nails the landing.

That looks like Edinburgh airport in strong strong westerly wind with lots of rotar coming off the pentland hills which just to the South West. I have been on several Flybe Dash 7s in strong winds coming into land. It’s interesting.

I would very much have wished to buy the pilot many beers after that incredibly skillful performance.

There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

Looks like hills in background, isn't it flat around Amsterdam?

Yup Amsterdam is flat - pretty much built on mudflats and water.

Edinburgh is pretty much built on old volcanoes so pretty hilly. The pentland hills are nearly 2,000 ft and in the terminal control zone of the airport. In certain wind directions we fly paragliders on those hills under permission from air traffic. We watch the jets coming into land at the airport and they are well below us - albeit 3 or four miles away and well upwind of where we are and out over the Forth Estuary.
