Great Space X night launch from Vandenberg AFB CA
Another great night launch. This time they landed the booster back at the launch site as you can see in the last couple of photos.

I like this, the sun really backlights the vapor trail. We got pictures from our back yard.

Yes, that was the real accomplishment. And it was a reused booster!

Wonder how much we pay the Russians to send us to the space station? Perhaps we should pay SpaceX to do the same?

First SpaceX Mission To Ferry Astronauts To International Space Station Set For June 2019

NASA expects the first manned SpaceX mission to the International Space Station to happen in June 2019.

The mission will mark the first crewed launch by a U.S. spacecraft to the orbiting laboratory since the United States retired its space shuttle program in 2011.

I believe that we pay the Ruskies around $81 million per astronaut for a round trip to the ISS.

I remember reading a science fiction short story that described exactly this problem. The US had given up building rockets and our astronauts were hitching rides with the Rooskies. Story was written about the time Skylab was coming to an end and the Space Shuttle was getting blow back from Congress.

If we used something cheaper than the Shuttle what would it cost us for a round trip.
How about if we used the shuttle to do the trip?
