Shows what kind of weather, and the rough field conditions endured during WW 2..

this is a pic of a B24 in RAF Service, Special Operations, flown by a Polish Squadron at an unnamed airfield..

with the mud all over the field, you can tell it is not an established airfield in Britain..my guess is a rough field in Italy...
