But apparently having some real engine design problems. Wonder what the Herc drivers among us think of it.

The A400 has been a White Elephant. Airbus's equivalent to our F-35, just not near as expensive.

In regards to it's performance and size, it is more comparable to our C-17.

Only a handful (35) have been built and delivered. So I doubt too many pilots have a lot of stick time in them. After the test flight crash in Spain last year, maybe there not a lot of pilots lining up to fly in one.

The A-400 is a slow fat C-130 with longer legs. There is use for such a plane. Its biggest advantages are its ability to handle outsized cargo, its long legs, and relatively low operating cost. It's biggest fault is it is slower than a Herc.

The A-400 tries to be both a strat airlifter and a tactical airlifter. It's not as good at strat as a C-17 or as good at tac as a C-130.

It will fill a role for certain countries who cannot afford C17s but need to move outsize cargo that a C-130 cannot. If the A-400 were 100 knots faster it would fill a needed role even for the USAF.

Here is a J model Herc maneuvering, for comparison.

That's a great show of flying skills and capabilities!! Wonder if that is a Factory Demonstration team or an Air Force Crew?? Thought it was interesting during the landing they fly through a screen full of BOEING Flags in the wind!!

The CP keeps calling the AC "General", so if they were not active they were at least former USAF/ANG/AFRES

I've seen that Herc footage before. Wonderful piloting skills in such a capable aircraft!
