These are nice actions if I'm not mistaken they are made by Heym.I've had a couple of these rifles and they are very smooth.

What is the difference between the 3000 action and the M98? Other than obvious, bolt, safety etc. .480 bolt face, not .473? What cartridge will that work on, forgive my ignorance.

The 6.5x55 has a .480” rim. Possibly others. That would make a darn fine hunting rifle.

The rim diameter on the standard 06 case is .473. If the bolt face were also .463 the cases would literally be a press fit into the bolt face.

Grab a set of calipers and measure the inside of a few 06 based rifles in your safe.

I think you will be suprised.

I am definitely surprised, the bolt face on my Winchester 280 push feed is .4805. Thank you I learned something today. Imagine that.

It came to me a number of years ago when I acquired a 6.5x55 barrel for my Sauer 200. I knew the 6.5 brass was slightly larger but that Sauer didn’t supply a separate bolt so I dug out my calipers and did a little measuring. Suddenly a light came on for me. Lol

Hasher answered the cartridge question well. There's quite a bit of difference between these actions and the 98s. This one is a push feed (super slick) and a different safety. I believe Heym built these.
