Steve BertramJ Purdey .45 bore Percussion sporting rifle SPF
This rifle is #1146, completed August 29th 1827 and remaining in very nice condition. The bore is extremely nice, the lock and set trigger perform perfectly, the ebonized stock has seen quite a bit of use but no abuse. The barrel has 12 grooves and a 1:48 twist, it has been re-browned and the maker's address has been refreshed. A very light weight gun at 5lbs on my postal scale. A wonderful rifle for the Whitetail woods. SPF

HighWallwhat would the proper load be for this rifle?

Steve BertramThis rifle should shoot either PRB or a short conical due to the rate of twist. Powder charge would need to be worked up, I would think somewhere in the 40 to 60 grain region myself.
