BoghossianWet rifle
What do you do to your rifle when you get home from a downpour like we had here on Saturday?
My friend was shocked to hear I did not dismantle and dry out the inside of the bolt, preferring to wipe it off with toilet paper and perhaps leave on a heater for an hour or so.
What do you do?

Nordic2Just dry it of with paper or cloth and put the rifle at a warm place. I keep the bolt separate. Then after a week of hunting i make a normal guncare with oil and pathes.

GerryI think lots of folks have different criteria on the attention to detail of their equipment - whatever floats your Boat.
Yeah, we've been down-poured on a whole bunch this season and I'm one of those who falls in the "complete strip down of all componet Bits & Pieces" camp.
O.K. - I use my synthetic Blaser R93 for such work and it doesn't take long but a coupla weeks ago there was two teaspoons of water in the forearm cut-out after such an afternoon. Also I've noted that if a dry Bore Snake is used to swab the barrel after a down-pour it doesn't change the POI after use.

meteI remember being totally soaked on one hunt.I had my M98 which as a military rifle was quickly taken apart and dried and lubed .My friend had a Savage 99, a very different matter.
I now have a rifle that is SS/synthetic which would solve a lot of problems !
