LHeym500Mouflon Pictures please
Mr. Reddy and I have come to terms on a Red Stag and Mouflon hunt in Bulgaria.
Do to my work I cannot be out of the Commonwealth until 2019.
But in the spirit of education and fun , would some of you mind sharing with me pics of mouflon you have taken. Please provide estimated age and Horn size in cm.
I know what a big mouflon looks like and I will most readily listen to the PH.
It I like to have some idea of what I am looking at.
Lead add stag picsif you wish.
Thank all in advance.

LHeym500Lamb chops are my favorite meal.
But I do not think I could do it.
Chalk it up to my intellectual dishonesty.

mouse932 years old - never measured it, shot with open sighted DR on a driven hunt
With 2 years they are still short, at 3 years + they are getting there...

LHeym500That is more horn than I would expect on a 2 year old.

mouse93It is actually sub-average one – see the one on the bottom that is well proportioned 2y.o.
Just a hint– try to evaluate them as Cape Buffalo - (see the (dagga) boys on the upper pic and compare them to a baby bellow).

LHeym500Thank you. I wish I could read that.
One thing that is obvious is the mass of the base compressing on the ear. The young while beautiful has a gap where the base does not extend to the ear.
And of course the noise with the bridge becoming more white.

DomFrom Czech Republic, Bohemia. If I remember, around 70cm or thereabouts. Think about a 4 year old. Very memorable hunt, the Widders were crashing horns all morning. This one was limping, just a decent Widder but not a real old one, but oftentimes it is more about how enjoyable the hunt was vs the inches. Good luck on your hunt, Waidmannsheil.

LHeym500You are 100percent correct. I do not know why it is so hard for me to discern growth rings on these sheep.
I can look at the overall image and say that is young bs Old now thanks to you all.

Big Wonderful WyomingAge is part of the reason those 90 cm rams are 2800-6000 euro.
Takes a long time to grow rams that long.

LHeym500Thank you M93. They must mature/develop horn quicker than our North American sheep. Let's see if I learned anything judgeing from the chart I would put the two old dogs boys into the older than seven category. I am not brace enough to call them 9 year olds, but your chart leads me to want to.
Some of those non broomed 8 plus year olds high 90s cm plus look like argils.

DomIf you get a nice Widder, recommend you get a head/shoulder mount. The Bart on the underside of the neck is tremendous, you can bury your entire fingers
