nightwalker ukHunting Boots
I have been a fan of Meindl leather boots for years, both high and short leg, but don't like the way the leather seems to split in the toecap area and the lacing system seems to break off eventually. Have been looking at the Bestard kevlar boots from Bush Wear, has anybody TRIED them yet (really tried them day in day out, heather and brambles?).
Would be interested to hear what you all think...If no good then its back to Meindl!

I have found Haix to be a better and cheaper than Meindl. Retired my first pair of Haix after 5 years of hard use.

Cheers

HP ShooterYou guys should look at the American brand Danner. They make outstanding boots, geared towards rocky, mountain terrain.
The Euro and Pound/$ exchange rates should make them very attractive to you guys in Europe.

nightwalker ukHP, I tried Danner and Matterhorn a good few years ago and couldn't really get on with them. My heel seemed to move around a bit, even with the heel support they offer, but I know plenty of people who liked them...

Yep, shoe fit is an extremely individual thing.

10,75mauserhave anyone tried these boots?
www.lundhags.se ? They are very nice, if you're not a tex fan. They hold the water out for houres.
I use the Scout model.
Nightwalker,
I have used the Ladakh model from Scarpa for about 16 years, bought my third pair last summer. All have been outstanding to use, requiring minimal break-in time.

Andy MassI wear boots designed for fellwalking made by a company called Brasher, the design is called Ridgemaster. They are a relatively high calf, waterproof, warm in winter and very comfortable. There is another brand I wear at work made by a company called Altberg from Northumbria, they design boots for the military and police, very hard wearing and again warm and waterproof. I have tried the Meindle but their price, when compared to the two aformentioned is too much, I'm sure there is an element of Scot in me! Good luck with the quest.

nightwalker ukAfter posting my original message, found an article on Bestard boots in Gun Mart, they look pricey for what they are? Ended up with another pair of Meindl (Got a real good price).
Had 2 pairs of Lundhags years ago, would never go back to them after wearing comfy padded boots!
It is a personal preferance!!
Thanks for the input...
