I too was hoping someone would have had some experience, as it is on my list to do, after bears in the US.

I seem to remember an article a few years back in the gazette, or field, about taking them with shotguns from snow mobiles???

I have posted on a few forums this subject and i am suprised at the response from some hunters. i have looked at wolves out of interest for some years and have read reports from europe and assia spain the us and canada alaska etc, the atitude to wolves in eastern europe is very diferent to the us opinions, many us hunters dont and indeed wont hunt them for some reason. where as the europeans tend to look at hunting as a very inportant part of the wolfs survival conservation wise. some eastern eoropean countries have few laws protecting them but others protect them and hunt them under strict control, but i think man and wolf are natural foes and where they pose a threat to man or mans interests man will kill them protected or not. I personaly whould like to hunt and shoot a wolf but if i ever do is very mutch in doubt, but to harvest one as no taboos for me thank you for your coments at least i know i am not alone in my resect of sutch animals .

I hunt on wolf area here in Finland and there would be very many hunters eagerly going after the wolves, but the trouble is there are very few licenses given every year. I believe there have been some 10-15 licenses per year lately, and the number of wolves is over 200 and increasing. How many are shot illegally every year, is another thing.

My only chance for wolves so far was 2 years ago, when i saw a pack of 5 wolves on a large field while going moose-hunting. It ended up on a hasty shot from 400 yards just before they reached the treeline. And, of course, it was a miss Frowner

Hunting wolves is forbidden here in Sweden. In fact it is not even allowed to shoot a wolf that is attacking livestock or huntingdogs (which happens quite often). A sheepfarmer was recently sentencensed to 6 months in prison for killing a wolf that was attacking his sheep.

Needless to say the wolf debate here is a hot topic and will probably even effect the outcome the elections in september.

The bigest wolfs populattion is un Russia, but you can also hunt wolfs in Bulgaria and Bosnia with a higth success. Spain is also a good choice for eurpean wolf but better places are very spensives, this year more than 15.000 euro per one licence.
