Denmark allows bowhunting.

Bow hunting is expressley prohibited in Great Britain since Mrs Thatcher put into law the 1991 Wildlife and Countryside Act.

Handgun hunting is not banned in Great Britain for any species except that ALL fireams must in England and Wales meet minimum velocity, bullet weight and muzzle energy requirements to be legal on deer. Additionally in Scotland they must meet a minimum muzzle velocity requirement too to be legal on deer.

However in effect as handguns are now prohibited in the UK it is only certian short barrelled lever action rifles in handgun calibres that might be affected.

An 18" barrel 44 Magnum Winchester or Marlin would struggle to be legal with ANY weight of bullet in Scotland for deer.

Before the British handgun ban I had a Smith and Wesson 5" barrel 357 Magnum revolver on my licence for use on feral goats.

Hi
I have had a long and drawn out argument with my local police licensing department about using my H&S precision pistol for hunting purposes . But unless I win the lottery and take them to court they will not move on this matter.

In France handgun hunting is forbidden while bowhunting is allowed, with a special permit. In Italy both are forbidden.

From what I understood about hunting in Spain while living there you could hunt with a bow. I don't think you could hunt with a pistol. This might have changed as I moved a way from that wonderful place in 2005.

I am not anti-bowhunting, but I think that 90% of the bowhunters in the field lack the maturity to practice enough to be proficient enough to effectibly take game, and they lack the ethics to not take shots that won't kill game.

When bowhunting loss/wound rates get to be the same as rifle hunters I will change my mind.

Bow hunting is legal in either Czech or Hungary, can't remember which one, but I did see a video clip from there recently of an archer hunting wild boar. I think it was Hungary, Waidmannsheil, Dom.
