Got my firearms certificate in the mail! Also got the shotgun certificate.

Now I can go buy a .270 and a .243 and shotgun(s).

I applied mid-February and the certificate had been signed by March, but was languishing on someone's desk for the last 2-3 weeks.
Overall the whole process was pretty simple and straightforward...

I have already stocked up on all the unregulated accessories. I have 2 scopes/2slings/scopecaps/bipod, just waiting for the guest(s) of honour.

Thanks for all the guys who gave tons of advice when I was applying! Hope I can repay you guys with a stalk one day soon.

Regards,

HappyGabriel

happy for you,
i applied for a .22 wmr in the last week of november.
first thing i heard was when they asked me in january to send my fac as it was"nt with the application, which means they had lost it(which will be the 2nd time)
conviced them that they already had it, and got my fac back early march, no .22. they"d f£&*ed it up and forgot to put it on. they also had me down for the wrong gun club, and had forgot to put on my suppressor.
sent it all off again, and they lost a bill of sale for the suppressor. they did"nt bother to tell me, so it lay for another 3 weeks before i rang and found out. got my rfd to fax a new bill of sale, but the head of my firearm section was on holiday, and the fac is still waiting to be approved.
so now they"re off for easter, bless"em, they need the rest after all the hard work they do.
i"ve decided that from now on, i"m not going to buy any more guns unless i really need to, i"m going to spend the money on actually shooting the guns i have. i"ve got a gun for everything from mice to moose, so i think i"ll just try to enjoy the guns i have until the situation improves, or more likely we just are"nt allowed to have anything loud, sharp or noisy.
good shooting

Two Nikon Monarchs 2.5-10 with 50mm objective lenses.
A bit big for a slim rifle, but at least they'll cover all bases, especially if I get some more chances at montain hunting.

I wonder what a loaded .270 with this scope/harris bipod/moderator and wide sling will weigh?
Maybe I will get a lighter scope on the .243...

those wide neoprene slings are great. they really take the ache out of carrying a heavy rifle for long periods. you can actaully feel the sling flexing as you walk along.
i don"t know what kind of terain you"re stalking, but i find a bipod to be a lot of hassle for little reward.
enjoy your new toy, i"m still harassing the postman every morning!
good shooting

Wonderful Gabriel.

I was so disappointed not being able to join You at the Rambouillet Fair.

I am most happy. That's a day one remembers when one can have his own first rifle.
Your kit seems to be perfect to join us for Moufflon hunting in october in the Alpes de Haute Provence. Your opinion?
