roe rut
At last the roe bucks are moving about and begining to pair up closely here in S.W. Scotland. Has anyone else started to notice activity and for how long has it been going on in your area?

Well the bucks still appear to be seperate as I called 5 does last Wednesday and not a buck to be seen. I hope it stays late as the wife has as allways booked us on a weeks (non stalking) holiday from Thursday.

I heard them "bark" two weeks ago from my place.
Ugly sound from such a beatutifull creature! [Smile]

The hunting for roe buck starts at the 10 of August so I have some time before I start school to hunt a little.

I have a buck that I hope to get this year. He doesn't have that usuall white spott on his backside so I can easily separte him from the others. He has on of the longes antlers I have seen on a buck at home. It's sertaily no record but localy he would be considerd a since buck.

Of course all trase of roe disapperes when the huntng starts [Smile] That's what happened last year, I stacked several animals, but when I got close they all turned out to be red deer [Razz]

And the moring I left to go to Finnmark there was roe on a field just below our house!

This evening I grassed my first Roe for the month - nice old 6pt. He came to a challenge 'bark' rather than a fiep - but it was at the run!! [Smile] - loads of fun! Dropped him at about 10 yards.

I had the landowner on my shoulder, concerned he was about to be trampled by a horny Buck! Always nice when everything goes right - AND there is someone else there to see it!! [Wink]

Weather here in the SW hit 90 degrees F today - thats bout 32 for the rest of Europe - got a feeling that this rut is gonna be one to remember!

Have a good one. Ian

Yes,
the rutting starts. No doubt. May be the hot wether this spring and now in summer let it start earlier a week than in other years.

Good hunting

35 degrees here today and I saw a roebuck standing out in the sun at 1:30 pm. Lots of activity.

Without doubt the rut has started - I know because I go on holiday for a week. Each year I say no holiday mid July - Mid August and each year Mrs 1894 ignores me.

Actualy in my area it looks as if it will be a late one.

Over here the rut has also started. Last Friday a poor 2 year old buck was chasing a doe. Unlucky for him and lucky for me it was the last sexual attempt he will ever make.
