Fallow BuckWoodcock and Snipe In North Cornwall
Hi Guys,
I know this isn't strictly in the vain of the forum, but I am going to Cornwall in a couple of weeks to shoot some snipe and woodcock. Do any of you local lads know what the season has been like down there and what I can expect?
Thanks,

trans-pondFB, plenty of woodcock all season n.Devon/ W.Soms. Have missed two opportunities of right and lefts this winter also the chance of a triple last week- yes I was using a rem.1100 rough shooting, and I had 3 woodcock flush within 20 yards simultaneously... A once in a lifetime chance, sadly missed!!
Also plenty of snipe about, including jacksnipe that are easy to mistake in the heat of moment/ about the size of a sparrow, they tend to flush and then pitch again within sight.
If you knock a snipe down Mark them well as they can take some finding in forestry/clearfell. Where you going? If you fancy an extra day walking up woodcock and pheasant Exmoor/Quantock area let me know.

Fallow BuckHi Trans,
I might well be interested in some of that. I'm going to a place called Stratton but I think I have to come back your way so why not.
Drop me a PM with your contact details on and I'll give you a call early next week when I'm back in the country.
Regards,

Fallow BuckHi Ian,
Sounds like my spaniel will fit in just fine!!! I've been away for four days and I left her with mum. I went to see her and she did her best to work off 4 days worth of latent energy. It brought a whole new meaning to "bouncing off the walls"!!!
Rgds,
