A few Pics from this week.
Hi all,

It's been an exciting week here with Holts and some shooting to be had.

Tuesday was Holts viewing, and we had our eye on a couple of nice bits that twinkled at me...Wink then Wednesday was a walked up partridge day as part of pre season training for field trial retrievers.

Thursday we went to the Holts sale and I managed to pick up a pair of 16b box-locks, and a Grant Side-lock that Dig is putting through the workshop. Today it was a shame to have new guns and not shoot them so we were up at Ampton with them shooting some ducks. The three of us finished with 47 head and all our regular guns stayed in the cabinet. It was only after the first 20+ shots for about 5 birds that we realised the stocks on the 16's are straight with a left hand sweep!! They are in the workshop this afternoon having a quarter of an inch of cast added before next weeks shooting starts.

One is Pinky, so the other one must be Perky...

Rgds,
Kiri

Thanks for posting the photos Kiri and for catching my 'best side'. Don't know who that fella in the background is though - certainly not Perky (or is that what you have named the pair of guns)? rotflmo

Seriously though, I had a great morning - many thanks for letting me show you both how to shoot.

Richard,

September is a great sporting month for Rod Rifle and shotgun. I haven't really done much partridge shooting in September for the last few years as I found the birds were often 3-4 weeks short of full strength but this year they have been good.

What I really love is getting out under a flight of Geese in September and the odd wild mallard on a flight pond.

The summers rabbits are also getting to a good harvestable size about now too so trips to the shoot end up being with a veritable armoury of weapons!!

That's all before the Bass and Salmon try and make an appearance...
