Re: Sauer 202 opinions?
This rifle will be my main big game rifle and as such i want a rifle i like and with the bolt on the "right" side!
As you say Mike the safety is a bit strange but i think it will be ok for me and the set trigger is a big plus for my kind of hunting!
It is strange tha sako and sauer are in a wery close price range for the standard tipes here in Iceland as the sauers are more expensive on the mainland!
Just hope ill get the rifle before i go hunting abroad the next time!

Regards Ben.

Yet the safety catch is weird but comfy.
About hair trigger, you don't need any. My 202 has no hair trigger, just a timney like trigger. Nonetheless, this trigger is awfully adjustable. You can even set it so as facing wind let it off. Easy done with screw driver.
I never saw such a fine trigger. My brother in law is hair trigger nut ; he borrowed my 202 in Africa and from this time is always doing his best to steal my 202. For my comfort I set the trigger at 150 gr.
All in all this 202 is the better rifle I ever had. Accurate, handy, little recoil, well balanced and never jammed. The sole sorrow, the fore arm should to be checked, it's prone to unscrew. Loctite solves this problem.

Sako, I also have a Sauer. Traded my Tikka up to a 202 in the "Elegance" model in .270win last year. Great timber and just about prefect in every way.

The Sauer just gives of an aura of quality. Shooting sub 15mm groups from an improvised rest just adds to the faith I have in it.

I have never heard of anyone buying one and regretting it.

Regards
Brian.

I was thinking about buying one in the "Forrester" guise. I think that was what it was called. I want a 9.3x62, I think the Forrester had a bigger magazine well that stuck out the bottom. Would be a handy hog in California and moose rifle for home in Alaska if I ever get back.

My Sauer 202 Europa Lux (Elegance in the U.S.?) in 7x64 has taken 22 heads of game so far (Roe-, Red deer and Muntjac). It shoots 5 into .5 MOA with different loads. I have the "rckstecher" set trigger, which I use for long range shots. One of my best "out of the box" rifles.

The 2nd one down is a 375 with a 5 shot magazine. I also have a 300 winmag barrel for it.
