Swarovski returns?
Discovered today that my 6-24x50 has a crack in the objective lens, doesn't seem to have effected zero, light gathering etc - but I now know it is there!!

Anybody give me info onto where or who I have to speak to, to get it repaired, and what is the expected waiting period/customer care on Swarovski items? I have had the scope for about 12 years.

Not a good day and not a good time of year to have equipment fail....aahhhhhh Frowner

Hi Richard

This is who you need to contact in the first instance. I have spoken to this lady on 2 seperate occasions and she is very helpful.

In the case of repair she sent off my binocs and recieved a quotation from the Austrian factory and I then took it from there. By the way the binocs after serious damage came back as good as new and it wasn't expensive in my opinion.

I had to return my 6x24x50 also last year,it went wobbly[wouldnt hold zero]
It was returned in less than 4 weeks having had a full service.
Including transit times I thought that pretty fast.Always keep a spare or borrow something !
Its a little bit like an amputation ! No scope,no magpies,no grey crows,no foxs !

Well that confirms to me the reason why I spend the money on quality equipment.

They suggested 4-6 week repair, received scope this morning (5 week) wait, all optics cleaned, regasses and seals, and obviosly the cracked lens has been replaced - charge NONE, what a brilliant service.

No explanation as to why the lens should have cracked - I will make some enquiries next week.

Some images of the cracked lens -

Richard, I take it you did not tell them you dropped the rifle and scope out of a high seat onto a big rock???

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Thanks alot Brian, when they send me the bill can you cover some of the cost, now that my cover is blown!!! Mad

But seriously, there was not a mark on the housing next to the crack in the lens, a mystery? And my rifles/scopes are used and abused, I do not wrap them up in cotton wool, but do look after them.

12 years ago I bought a compact Swarovski binoculars; no carry bag was provided despite the HIGH price. I wrote a complaint letter to Swarovski Austria and 2 weeks later I received the carry bag with an apology letter, free of charge.
7-8 years ago, said binoculars felt from my hand to the floor and, although they were inside their carry bag, something moved inside and they needed repair. I sent them to Swarovski factory, stating that it was my fault and 1 month later I got them back repaired and free of charge.
Last year they got fogged; I sent them again to Swarovski Austria and got them back repaired free of charge 1 month later; I'm Eeker!!!

A friend of mine bought a SLC 8x30 back in -83.
This year, he decided to send it for service, as it had gotten like he said, a little "foggy".

Five weeks later, he received a NEW pair of binos!
The comment that came with the package was:
Dear mr.xxxx. Your set of binos had suffered loss of gas..... and so on. "Therefore we decided to replace them.

Now, thats warranty! Smiler
