Re: SAKO's the old or the 75, which do you prefer, why
I never found that lower bolt lift such a big advantage... I have shot a couple of 75:s, and they are nice rifles but the gunsmiths and collectors I have talked to agree that the "improvements" of the later models were made to make the manufacturing less expensive...

I have a L461 in 222rem, an AII in 7mm08 and an AIII in 338 win mag, and I am very pleased with them. These rifles also usually shoots very well, and the bases for the scopes is the same on the old rifles, so you can use the modern Sako Opltilock mounts.

Just curious if any of you gents could give me some sort of an idea regarding the ages of a couple of Sakos?

One is a .244 Rem that a gunsmith friend of my grandfathers built which is an L57.

The other is a barrelled action I recently purchased in 7mm-08 for my wife, it is an L579.

Tried to get assistance from SAKO but to no avail.
