Leaving this afternoon from San Fran...to hunt chinese water deer and muntjac with Kevin Downer at Woburn. Really looking forward to getting away and into the English country side.
I'll post some pics on our return.

swsMax,
Good luck. Great time of year to be coming over for them. Plenty of chinks about, but be warned its wet! You'd best pack some wellington boots as its been raining like crazy around Woburn for the last few weeks.

maxartThanks Simon, Wellis are packed as is the long underware. Have never been over this time of year so I'm really looking forward to seeing the change in the countyside from June -July. I have hunted Roe deer and munjak 5 or 6 times at that time of year... usually pretty warm so I'm looking forward to the cold.

GerryMax,
Waidmannsheil!
Hope you've gandered our AR Weekend Report - the Muntjacs cooperated, very well, Thank You Sir!
As for the Muntjac I can only reiterate that they are very active during the "magic" morning & evening hours. Before & after it's like someone turned off the switch.
I used a .243 Win. w/100 gr. Semi-Spitzer Normas, 8x56 Zeiss' & a 3-12X56 Kahles and could have still used more X to determine head quality. My Buddy had a minature Burris 20X scope than he found VERY useful.
You'll enjoy this time of the year; not so much for the weather but due to the lack of leaves, bracken (ferns) hedges and other foliage. You'll be able to see many more Muntjac than in the summer simply because you can gander alot more cover that would otherwise be a green curtain. IMO They are 100% fringe animals; while they often travel thru forest & open areas (quickly) they are most at home on the EDGES.
Chinkies - Whew! Never glass an edge - they just suddenly appear in the middle of an open field , How the F**k they get there is "an amazement!"
Tell us about the "Halo" when you return.

BoghossianGlad you enjoyed your hunt so much - looks like some nice medal heads too. What rifle/calibre did you use?

maxartWe were using Kevins .243 sako supressed on the munts and a 22.250 for the chinks.
