Re: Mounting A Scope On A Double Rifle?
Wow, that is expensive for the pivoting mount! I just checked with a gun shop here in Switzerland, and they want CHF500 (US$400 at current exchange rates) for the BBSM mount. Then there is the labour, but surely that won't come to $1200! Switzerland is usually a good deal more expensive than Germany for gun related items, so I'd expect the parts to be available retail in Germany for the same price or lower (gels with the prices I cited from the Frankonia catalog).

It seems like you should figure out 1) do you want to do it at all, 2) if yes with what scope: rail, no rail, objective size (a straight scope without an objective bell, would be the easiest, and would be perfect for a 9.3x74) 3) have you got a smith in the US you'll trust with this, 4) can you get the parts cheaper in the US, if not 5) figure out how to get the parts from Europe (we'll help).

DB Bill have you shot your double rifle yet, if so tell us what loads and how she did.
Also if you send it back to Krieghoff for scope mounts you could also have another set of bbls installed... say a set of 500/416, or 470 [ also scoped of course ] and have one of the best "allround BIG GAME" rifles on the planet.

Agreed NE 450, perfection may not be part of this world, but we can try and come pretty close to it. Here's a pic of my FN-Browning o/u in 9,3x74R wearing its Swarovski 1,25-4x24 RAIL scope in a Shler CLAW MOUNT. Both barrels shoot 1 hole at 50m and, after taking the scope on/off, return to zero is perfect.
