Racoon Dog and Racoon in Europe
I understand that these two introduced species are making their way through the European countryside, what is the total range?

What other little omnivores have been "introduced"?

The racoon was introduced in the 1930s by one of Hitler's top people. The whitetailed deer introduced also in the 30s into Finland...The American grey squirrel was introduced to the UK ,IIRC at an earlier time.

The racoon might look like a bandid but was released in N. Central Germany already in the 1920s when animals from a fur farm escaped near Kassel, in the Eder lake area, if I remember it right there were several more releases in the East. Not everything evil in Germany was related to Hitler.

Today, they seem to exist to different degrees in most of Germany, some years ago they appeared even her in the SW, still only very few of them, mostly road kill at night.

The racoon dog comes from Russia and was released in Estern Germany durimg the 50s. Now this is in fact product of a dictatorship. I saw them in Finnland, too. Down here, it seems they have not yet come.

the mink was introduced as a farm animal in norway in the 1930's.
they escaped and established themself in the wild.

they have status as unwanted in our fauna, so they can be hunted 365 days/year.
but they're still here...

Would be neat to get a Racoondog in prime winter coat.

If we had Capercaillie, alpine Ibex, and Roe deer in Alaska we would have the best of everything. Including our moose, elk, bison, muskox, caribou, sitka blacktails, mountain goats, dall sheep, brown bears, black bears, polar bears, walrus, wolverine, and wolf.
