I was stationed in Germany from 83-87 and hunted extensively. Was lucky to make friends with a couple Forstmeisters who both needed help with their Abschuss plans... So I killed quite a few Wildschweine und Rehwild. It helped that I spoke passable German...und mit a Frankische Bauer Dialekt!

Is it still valid if I come to Germany to hunt or will I need a new permit.

I believe it is valid, all you have to do is drop by the local city with issuing authority and pay your renewal fees, and purchase insurance from one of the few that offer hunting insurance.

I think mine is through Goebels.

Insurance is 60 euros per year.

License here in Rheinland Pfalz is 60 Euros per year.
