calgarychef1where to go for a warm vacation
Well we've been in England for about three weeks and things are going quite nicely.
The kids get a week off in February and we're scratching our heads about where to go for a nice beach holiday at that time. I'd prefer to go to Africa for a week of hunting but wifey says "no" and I agree that a week of nice warm weather and sun would be restorative.
So can anyone recoment a good destination?
thanks

mouse93Have Africa (sans hunting) and a beach holiday - Zanzibar.

Claret_DabblerNot much chance of a beach holiday anywhere in Europe in February.
Egypt and the Red Sea is an option, Canary Islands is another. I would have said Tunisia, but that is a bit messed up currently.
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

GhubertAh, yes.
We may have neglected to mention February when waxing lyrical about the UK on that thread a few months ago...

As Brian says options in Europe at large are very limited at the moment so you might have to more or less look to Africa anyway.
Whatever you do don't be persuaded that a trip to Centreparcs is a good idea and stay the hell away from Butlins!!!
Perhaps a trip to Dubai is the best compromise?

calgarychef1Cost is somewhat of an issue but not the main concern. Just looking for a place the kids can let loose and behave like little Canadian mongrels. Dubai was mentioned in passing. We're not very well versed in "holidaying " on this side of the world. Thanks for the input, it's nice to have somewhere to ask these questions.

GhubertHmmmm.
How important is hot?
I ask as there are lots of nice things to do for a short break away in the UK or within a short hop to Europe but nothing's going to be hot.
How would a few days walking somwhere very pretty and staying in quaint little rustic bed and breakfast places for a few days sound?

Claret_DabblerMost people going on half term winter holidays with the kids tend to opt for skiing.
Hence Nigel is not joing us for the Livermere weekend, he will be sliding down an Alp somewhere.
Canaries are probably the best bet for sun and not too expebsive.
Be sure and specify you want a nice resort for a quiet family holiday, not a hotspot for "night-life".......

SIKA98KI am heading to Agadir,Morocco on the 5th of February for 3 days driven boar shooting.
Some guys who travelled with me to Hungary in November invited me along. They do it every year, their annual trip.
Some of the wives travel also so there must be alternatives to the hunting.

Only if you are thinking of Sharm El Sheikh at the tip of the Sinai or the southern mainland resorts like Marsa Alam. The northern resorts might still be a bit chilly.
