Husqvarna M98New deer rifle Sako 6 mm TCU
Hi guys,
life in Sweden can at times be a bit boring, to add to my life and hunting experience I decided this summer to try something new.
Well I ran in to this one rifle that was for sale some time ago,
I thought it looked good and the seller had a hard time selling it due to the unknown caliber,
6 mm TCU or rather 6 mm-223Rem AI,
Nice little round about 850 m/s with 75 grain bullets.
So after taking possesion and having a go with it at the range, including a zeroing of I went to the hunting grounds.
So far this season I have only shot the one roe a small buck and now I felt it was time to shoot my second and most likly last roe on the grounds, have to save some for the others.
After arriving late, of cours I spotted a roe, a yearling doe and off I went for a circling stalk ro get the right wind and a solid bullet stop,
Well it all came together nice and I shot it late in the day, about five minutes before legal time was up.
The pics is from the day after, the decidedly blurry image is a direct result of the rain/slate that was coming down on this one day.
As most times, I spend the night on the grounds, this time I was glad that I had solid rain gear.
Well in the spirit of sharing I figured you all would like to know what I am up to.

Best regards to you all/Chris

GerryChris,
Congrats - a heavy barreled Sako in 6mmTCU; very nice looking little package IMO.
Since you're a reloader, I wouldn't concern myself too awful much with the relatively uncommon chambering & Logistical Tail - you control your own destiny. All's required are some .223 Remington cases, 6mm bullets & Die Set - Voilá!
I wouldn't ignore the opportunity to try some 85 gr. Nosler Partitions or Sierra 85 gr. HPBT's, either?

wildboarIsn't it a little heavy? Interesting cartridge, though.

Claret_DabblerChris, that is seriously tasty. I am sure this rifle is capable of extreme accuracy.
Can I commit a heresy and suggest a McMillan stock?

Fantastic gun for Roe and Fox.

Brian,
You said it yourself; heresy, and that on a factory perfect Sako short-action, heavy barrel....indeed.

Claret_DabblerChris / Gerry, is this rifle as it came from the factory, or is it a rebarrel?

Husqvarna M98Hi guys,
thank you all for the kind words,
as far as accuracy goes the seller spoke of a few 3 rounder belove 5 mm with 52 grains V-max and more than a few 5 rounders with Barts 68 grain (?) at about 13 mm,
me I have only shot a 19 mm 8 rounder, and I was not impressed by my driving during that shot.
Brian it´s a rebarrel, original the L46 action was delivered as 222 Rem.
With the dies at home, a case of Lapua match cases en route and samples of bullets at home I am like a child at Christmas,
I now have
Sierra GK/MK ??
Norma FMJ 100 grain
Balistic tip 75 grain
Partition ??
TSX 85 grain I think
V-max 52 grain and the 58 grain versions I belive
Hornady FMJ 80 grain
So in all I have few loads/bullets to try out, the FMJ:s will be great for small things still intended to eat.
As for heresy, yes there might be a composit stock in the works for this rifle however first there has to be a moderator installed,
I have had my time to select a Swedish made one by a company called RCC, I think it will be great.
Last heavy, no I would guess it tips the scale at about 3,6 kilos bare, remember the barrel is thick but not very long.
My other rig is way passed 5 kilo now and that is getting there but not yet heavy

well thanks all, your replys made my day.
/Chris
According to the rumor mill, the SGK is great and might ones again become the chosen one however I have 6 boxes of TSX bullets, so I sure do hope they will shoot.
