I have made up my mind, I will go to Austria or Germany for my stag.
Any one who can recommend me a good outfitter to contact?

Not really an outfitter but I would recommend the Federal Forestry Administration who mostly administers the differenst military training areas, many of them with very good red deer hunting especially during the rut. Highly recommendable, even though the arrangements are a little more complicated than with private outfitters. Still, a very good deal.

I agree with Dirk.

You arrive; stay in a local inexpensive B&B; aren't nickeled & dimed to death with Guide Fees, transportation, trophy prep and all sorts of other additional hidden costs, etc.

If you care to PM me I'll forward you an e-mail address to the Forest Director of one of the Military Training Areas; he'll be more than pleased to have a hunter during the rut.

Class I Stag (11 years & older) @ €uro 2,000.- upwards depending on the trophy quality. Will all be stand hunting to judge & evaluate the heads. End of September first part of October is the right time.
