Ever have one of those days? :)
Ever have one of those days........... when every thing goes right - and someone is there to see it??

Well, just back from the range - zeroed and played with the .22 - as well as shooting a group to help sell my .223 Model Seven. It went an unheard of .25" WOW!!! One great test target to hang off the trigger guard on the sale rack!

Then off with my buddy to drop off some venison for a landowner, before wandering out to his back yard to clear some rabbits. Greeted like a long lost friend and spent a happy half hour nattering before taking the Krico out for a walk.

38 bunnies and a broad grin later, I slipped the rifle and exchanged it for the deer gun. The ground is shaped like a sixty acre acoustic bowl - immediately adjacent to a housing estate. Loud reports can sometimes cause problems as you can imagine!

Walked thirty yards, plonked my rump down and the grin got larger as this fellow ambled into view from a patch of cover. Overestimated the range by about 30 yds and held a tad high. As it was, at 175yds the round hit right on point of aim - and the buck dropped without a twitch.

Sometimes........... life doesn't get any better! ;0)

Keep well.

Ian

That's a story for when you are old and annoying. Well done

What a beauty! Wish we had them in Wyoming. My son was stationed in southern Germany when he was in the Army and told me about them when he was on manuevers there. What rifle did you use to bring him to bag?

Wyo - Borrowed a .308 that a friend had to hand. Overkill for these little deer - but its a round that 'does' from Beaver to Moose.

Rifle is built on a ww2 k98 action with shilen barrel and Timney trigger. Nestled into a classic 'English' stalking rifle stock, its got a Leupold 3-9 x 50 on top. Wonderful handling rifle that is very comfortable to shoot and a pleasure to drool over! Wink

Congratulations - nice buck.

Those days help balance out the others when everything goes wrong.

Does he have a back tine on the antler nearest the camera - probably just obscured by the camera angle?
