OK I'll Do It Myself Then...
Looks like if I want to see picture I have to take them myself!!

Wink

Actually this is a buck that my freind in Norfolk took on the first along with another yearling.

He sent me the pictures to check if I thought it was good enough to bother puttingon a shield....

Any thoughts?

Nice buck, Fallow. Not having his body or his teeth to judge by, I would still venture a guess of an age of at least 5 years. See how the coronets have thinned, and are now arranged in a "roof" like manner. On the Continent, that stage of skull growth really only starts to be visible at 5. On this buck (at least judging from the picture) this looks quite pronounced. It would have been nice to see the antlered skull from the front, though, to confirm my suspicion.

Another indication of a fair old age, is the fact he is out of velvet by April (assuming he has just been taken?) - that would be mighty early for young bucks over here...

If my age guess holds up when you look at the molars, that would make this a highly respectable buck, and certainly warrant a hearty "Weidmannsheil" for the fortunate and skillful hunter!

Erik,

It's not so much a case of a "shitload of Roe on shields" more "a load of shit roe on shields...." I rarely get to shoot roe as we don't really have many near me. Most of what I have is from invites and swaps with friends. all in all I have probably taken less than 10 roebucks, so I have yet to start slinging things in the hedge!!!

Mike I have another photo that is better but for some reason my hosting site won't upload it.
I could mail it tomorrow to someone if they would post it.

How difficult is it to arrange for a roe deer hunt in England? Can I bring my own rifle?

Bill,

It should be fairly easy for you to arrange a week of Roe stalking in England. You would also be able o bring your own rifle, but I would say thatyou shouldn't expect to shoot toomany trophy animals. It will depend on where you go as to what you get.
