Buell98Hunting shops in Germany
Im currently stationed in Wiesbaden which is close to Frankfurt. Are there any good hunting stores around the area? Ive looked all over downtown Wiesbaden but cant seem to find anything...

NitroXWell you haven't looked very hard. Wiesbaden has a large Frankonia Jagd store. It did when I was there years ago.

120mmWhen I was in Wiesbaden, I didn't find a LARGE Franconia Jagd store, but there is a very competent hunting store just off the fussweg. Do you know the street that goes from the American Arms to the marktplatz? Just walk from the marktplatz to the fussweg, and take the last right you can. Follow that alleyway parallel to the fussweg, and sooner or later, on your right, will be a hunting store. It's three levels, and each level is very small, but the proprietor is both friendly and helpful.
I don't know better instructions, and the alleys on that side of the fussweg are incredibly complex. The other landmarks nearby are the Huhnstrasse leder shop, and a lingerie shop next door.
Good luck. Just stick to it, you'll find it. If you get the time, you really need to go to the Wurzburg store. It is incredible.

Buell98I'm going to the city this weekend so Ill have to take a look and see if I cant find it. Ive mainly stuck to the main shopping area around the church. We pass the american arms hotel in the taxi to get to the church so I know where that is.

No I dont have a hunting license for Germany but I should have a hunting license for Iraq because I am going there on the 6th of January. I spent christmas in Schonach with a friend of mine. Its near offenburg.
I dont know that much about hunting here in Germany, but I would like to learn.

Buell98Ill only be there for a few months and about half the time Ill be in Kuwait so I dont think it will be that bad. Im not combat arms so I dont do that dangerous of stuff. Ill mostly have to watch out for the mortars those bastards want to loft around town...

Buell98I went to a kettners in vienna last year and it seemed like a nice shop.
Yes usaeur still exists. Its how we are supposed to get our tmp licenses for Germany. I havnt looked into much hunting or traveling here because the day we arrived they said most likely we would be going downrange within a few weeks, and now it has turned into 43 days. I did go to southern germany last weekend however. When I get back Im going to seriously look into the matter...
Thanks for the info. I might make it to the store in Frankfurt before I go downrange. Now it has been moved to the 13th so I have another week.

Are there any Kettner shops open in Germany? If so, where? The English newsletter I received said they were going bankrupt. A later letter I read (from Frankonia) said Frankonia was buying out most of their remaining inventories.
As far as believing rumours from 'doofus's'; I try not to, but I don't believe the General Manager of the largest Rod and Gun Club in Germany is a 'doofus'. He had already given the fax to the legal department on base. He was most concerned because they have a contract with Frankonia and the fax stated they would not be able to honor it.

A few shops have been taken over by Frankonia. The clothing and apparel inventory has been sold off, the core business of guns & ammo is to remain. The florishing European branches of Kettner in France, Belgium and Austria (add Switzerland and Spain) were never affected anyhow; neither was their import-export-wholesaler branch "Jaspo".

Okay. I shall take it back, having been too charitable evidently. Please replace it with "dishonest liar". There are no insurance concerns whatsoever involved, and he should know that. He is pulling your leg.

mhoHmmm, apart from who said what and why, it is true that Kettner hit a spell of bad economic trouble. I'm not into all the details, so it is probably best if I don't speculate over the exact events, reasons, twists and turns. The fact that Kettner was in trouble was pretty widely publizised in the (hunting) press, so it is little surprise if you have heard things to this effect. The company seems to be back on their own two feet again under new management, however. So currently there should be no problem dealing with Kettner. I suppose this is what Carcano is referring to.

We also thank you for your interest in our assortment.
Regarding the problems of the product liability situation in the USA and Canada our
management decided to stop deliveries to these countries. That concerns our complete assortment!
We ourselves regret this situation and ask for your understanding.
I do not blame Frankonia for their stance at all. Unfortunately I am afraid it reflects the consequences that occur when we as the general public allow individuals to abuse our legal system and liberals to control that system.
Thanks to all of you who made the information available though. It does not look like all is lost though. Right now my family will hopefully spend Christmas in Germany next year visiting my in-laws. Turns out there is a Frankonia store in their city,

jpbPity that they are lumping Canada in with the US as regards liability. I've lived in both countries, and the lawsuit craziness in Canada is nothing like the US.
However, the Canadian export market would be tiny for them in any case.

Pityful! I get so upset when the equivalent thing happens to me as a European customer with a US company. Case in point: Brownells, I have bought stuff from them for years, not massive amounts, but I was a fairly regular customer. All of a sudden I find out they no longer sell to European customers. Grrrrr 
. Or Midway - have long since stopped selling to us foreigners.... Why is the World hellbent on making life difficult for recreational shooters and hunters??

The funny thing is that other US companies still deliver to Europe. Midway�s and Brownell�s were also my favourites.
