Happy Summer solstice to you all.
In Sweden we "celebrate" summer solstice, midsommar with a few small snaps and some pickled herring.

I´ll be back on sunday should I have survived.

Best regards to you all.

Enjoy Chris.

Have to say I like the idea of the old pagan mid-winter and mid-summer festivals much better than the modern commercialised christian versions.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Thank you Brian, we tend not to look at these events as such ie pagan, however they are.

Still what could be wrong with drinking a bit of Bäsk, some of you guys know how good it is and dream of pagan acts........

Hmm

Well all, take care

Thanks Chris, here we don't celebrate it; anyway, after June 21 days get shorter, thereafter leaves fall and the hunting season starts again... dancing

Chris, I am still in amazement that you really do enjoy Bask - I mean really enjoy it?? Frowner

Your summer solstice party looks good fun though, especialy as it is thick fog here and cold with it!

Happy Summer!!

Ok I surely missed out on something. I spent a month in Sweden back about a decade ago (Hunting most days) and I never tried bask. I don't think anyone even mentioned it. I guess they probably thought I would'nt be up to the challange.

I forgot to mention that I'm soon leaving the house for a solstice party. Our days here in AK (like in Sweden) are prity much around the clock so it's always interesting to see wich will go down first the sun or the people at the party. The sun wins every time.

Hi all, I am back and I belive better than ever. Wink

Nightwalker,

Yes I really do enjoy bäsk, however it´s an aquired taste and it will take a lot of time and drinking to come to like it.

Second we have a slightly different pallet here in Sweden, we strive towards herbs and salt, the aromatic side when perhaps the english has more of a blend when it comes to prefered flawors.

Oh btw a traditional swedish midsommar lunch is made up of at least four different kinds of pickled herring, fresh boiled potaotes, sour cream, chopped (gräslök) like spring onions, Janssons frestelse, a potato dish and at least four kinds of snaps and beer,

Some people are more freespirited they have smoked salmon as well.

All in all I had a great weekend.

Best regards Chris
