Yo Seth,

Hope everything fine with you.

The 8.5x63 Reb is the .30/06 Sprg. necked up to .338" with shoulder pushed forward; net, a .338/06 Improved.

Actually a pretty cool looking cartridge with solid performance but it's a boutique number so hard to come by & expensive when you do unless you reload.

Cheers,

Number 10

hey D99,

Werner Reb is the designer of this cartridge. He is co-author of the German hunting magazine "Die Pirsch" (The Stalk) and if you are capable of reading German I can provide you with a lot of information on Werner Reb and his cartridge.

It is being widely discussed on the German Hunting Forum www.wildundhund.de.
Unfortunately I dont own a rifle chambered for this cartridge since it is seen by many as a redundant cartridge that only makes sense for reloaders...

just let me know,

elwood.

I shoot a Mauser M03 in 8,5x63 for a customer befor a few weeks and I must say the accuracy was very good. Three shots in one hole at 100m. The bullet was the Nosler Accubond with 14,3g.
Here´s a picture of the round.

A other customer is thinking about a custom rifle M98, we will build for him, in this round.

I have spoken to Mr. Reb on this calibre at great length. I am not a 338 fan but can see the advantage, so much so I ordered a Blaser barrel for it in that calibre

So it's a Sprachen Sie 338-06 Ack. Hmm, nothing new on either side of the pond.

I had figured as much with the 8.5 being about .338.

Thanks a ton guys!

Really attractive is the rimmed version (based on the 7x65 mm R case) for break-top actions.

Barrels for the Blaser K95 are available from factory, I am lusting after one ever since, it would make it the ultimate allround travel rifle...
