Fallow BuckAfrican Trophies
Hi there,
Like most sportsmen, I am contemplating a trip to Africa soon. Does anybody have experience of bringing back any trophies, and are there any restrictions in the UK?
I'm particularly interested in the restrictions on the cats that may or may not exist.
Thanks

DeerdogsOn my first trip to Africa I had some shoulder mounts, skulls and skins prepared in Zimbabwe. The mounts are as good as I've seen, and I am very happy with the result. From memory a kudu shoulder mount cost US$350.
Shipping is expensive, and you can expect to get stung maybe US$800 for a crate about 1 metre cubed landed at Heathrow. No problems with customs, and assuming your cats are legit and have their CITES paperwork with them then there should be no problems whatsoever.
Last time I had the tax done in RSA. Similar to Zim.
Next time I go I will not bother with any taxidermy. I'll just take photos and maybe pick up couple of buffalo skin rifle slips or similar.
Regards
