I have been approached by a couple of shooters and they have asked me to put together a weekends introduction into consistently shooting targets at long range.
I have contacted a friend who won a gold medal in Canada at 1000yds,
he is quite prepared to put together a program of events,
Ballistics, understanding moa, windage, scopes,rifles, caliber etc..
All you need is your stalking rifle..
Starting at Drumlanrig Castle,Thornhill,Dumfries,South West Scotland for theory and then out to the range on a private Estate.

My question is this: would anybody be interested in weekend of long range shooting good company,good grub etc. If you want more info then send me a pm with your contact details.

I'd be REALLY fascinated for you to do a before and after test!

Before - course members are introduced to a piece of ground with say 3 deer targets at ranges of say 250, 350 and 500 yards. They are given no other information. Score results (would be rather amusing to put a doe target at the 500yard point and see if they engage it in doe close season )

After - ditto but somewhat different ranges and see results.

See difference. I think the before would be most interesting especically if done before a range and zeroing session.

I can assure all, there will be no deer targets whatsoever, while we will be encouraging you to shoot targets successfully at various ranges, non of them will be deer related.

One of mine is still zeroed for 500yds from a recent Altcar shoot, & was check zeroed & chronographed @ 2700 fps, over land yesterday + I still have a full turn of the turret for 10 moa & 16 clicks giving another 4 moa, then I can add the Mil Dots in the reticle, so I reckon I should be out there pretty well, just depends on the ammo & the nut behind the butt!

I have to agree with Steve...It was an excellent weekend and certainly an eye openner for me..

Using a couple of specialist long range rifles brought along by griff and lee, they had people shooting out to 1000m and 1300m respectively ,with a very good degree of success, including many first time hits...

Most of the guys had a chance to shoot their standard stalking rifles with similar success out to 500m and I think everbody came away motivated to do more of this type of shooting..

So a big thankyou to griff and lee and I very much looking forward to the next event..
