Help from Sweden or wherever
I need some help from Sweden.

Today I picked up a old percussion rifle that was referred to as a 'wall' gun. It has a 29 1/2 inch octagon barrel, a smooth bore, 1 3/16 inch bore diameter and weighs 15 1/2 lbs. The stock looks to be Poplar? Trigger let off is 2.5lbs and very crisp.

The paper work states it was made on the estate of Frans Skjolobrand, a former Stockholm mayor, around 1812-15.

Are these common in Scandanavia or is this something special? It is in very good condition with a browned barrel and beautiful smooth fitings. The joints are almost invisible. Any idea of worth?
Thanks in advance

<Made in Sweden>
Id say anyone with enough money to make weapons on a regular basis back in those days had a lot of money.... and the gun is probably not all that common.. just hang in there and Ill see what I can find on the guy...

Made in Sweden

I understand that this is the guy who went to France and brought back the French General and his Wife, Desiree to be the King and Queen of Sweden. He was rewarded for his efforts by the gift of an estate in SE Sweden that was so large you 'could not ride across it in any direction in 2 days'. That is from the paper work. You are right, he must have had a Krona or two!! [Big Grin]
