MarteriusAustrian hunting costume...
I know that our friends on the continent are very particular about their dress, and try to keep up the old standards, but still I think this hat would not really be in fashion today...

fuhrmannThe shoes are inadequate. The hat is ridiculous.
But the rest is very much OK, and still quite in fashion.
Fabrics look too light, though.

Fritz KrautThe picture in Marterius' posting is perhaps a bit old fashioned, but the Germans and Austrians still have a style of the own.

P.S. No, I don´t carry that costume when hunting. I prefer an englich wool cap and oil cloth waistcoat.

ArminiusNow, don´t exaggerate!
Some Loden, Blaze Orange is gaining ...
there are lots of overweight hunters in Austria - as I always say:
"the two most dangerous things in Austria are the car drivers ( not necessarily Austrian! ) and the Austrian Cuisine ( or way of living generally )"
But you have to try the last to appreciate it!!!

577NitroExpressI'll be in Austria in two weeks (Styria, not Tyrol though).
I'll have to see if my father-in-law has one of those "pimp hats" in his hunting closet.... ;-)

Thanks Marterius!

We want to see you dressed up in traditional chamois costume.

Somehow I think the "cut feet" technique might have been a beer hall 'story' to tell a gullible journalist.
