1894mk2Judging Roe in Velvet.
As the end of season panic doe culling is now well under way I am starting to see some nice bucks.
Do you think it's possible to tell much quality from bucks in velvet?
I get an idea of height and width but have more or less given up trying to judge mass.
How long before fraying do you think antler growth (height and mass) stops?

1894mk2,
As a giggle.....

I also like my bucks in garters and leather - whips are optional - all compliment the velvet if the colo(u)rs are coordinated.

You should be able to get a fairly good impression of potential antler quality, rosenstock, mass, length etc. as the bucks are still in velvet. IMO there is a big difference to note especially with their age.

Cheers,
Gerry

Andre MertensOnly an impression as the growth is not completed. All kind of (future) accidents still play a role (bone fracture, testis wound, stress, etc.). Antler mass and body size foster our hopes, though...
