Bolt action sporters?
About when did bolt action sporters begin to show up in Europe in any numbers? What kind/caliber were they? capt david troll

"It's not how hard you hit 'em, it's where you hit 'em." The 30-06 will, with the right bullet, successfully take any game animal in North America up to 300yds. Get closer!

I am guessing that .303 Lee-Metfords were being sporterised in the early 1890's. Can't remember when the British went from the Metford to the Lee-Enfield, around 1895 I think.

There must have been Mauser sporters from the late 1890's.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

I I agree. I suspect that the earliest sporters were probably Mausers.

One of the first Bolt Sporting Rifles was the Mauser 1871 in 11,15x60R.
It´s sporterized by Mauser and other gunmakers.
It´s also made in 11,15x37R.

In Italy, bolt action sporters are strongly limited by a stupid gun law that forbids any alteration; there is a list of approved specimen and any alteration of any specifications of said list, must be approved by a committee of "experts" in Rome Roll Eyes. Anyway, misery loves company and we are quite lucky compared with other nations.
