S&B 9.3x62 Ammo
Has anyone here used the Sellier & Bellot 285 grain round nose load for the 9.3x62 Mauser? How do the bullets hold up on hogs and larger game? Thanks, Okie John.

I dont know if you guys are interested but some years back I experienced a Sellier&Bellot going off in the magazine of my semi-auto Breda shotgun. It was the shot to be chambered and it fired at the same time as the one in the barrel destroying the magazine and damaging other parts of the gun. When inspecting things I found out that this is nothing new when S&B is involved. Here in Iceland The use of S&B in semi-autos was banned consequently instead of banning S&B shotgun ammo completely which should have been done. The only experience I have of S&B rifle ammo is the 180gr soft point in my .308 and the results were unbelievable, 15-20cm groups when I usually make 1-1.5 MOA groups depending on bullets and loads. I will never never never use S&B again thank you

GBF I think you will hear bad stories from all manufacturers.
I had no problems with S&B till yet. Also the accuracy is OK (at least for hunting, I am not a benchrest shooter). I use it in 8x57IR, 308 and 7x65R. Also some shotgun ammo. I heard they have got a new manufacturing line.
An other thing was a Russian shotgun ammo. With that I had some surprisings. Enormous muzzle flash and a sound like a cannon. But I had a Russian gun, and it seems they are build for such ammo. At least there was no damage.

Herr Sauenjger I have seen myself the results from russian shotgun ammo precisely as you describe it [Big Grin] and what a blast. The barrels inside was completely covered with soot and deposits afterwards. However with the S&B stuff, I found records showing at least 12 incidents back home precisely as what I myself experienced, that is shells going off in the magazine and damaging guns even seriously as you can imagine. I have never ever heard anything similar about any other product. And 20cm groups out on 100m is not what I want to see in the field while shooting at a reindeer from a range of maybe 300m obviously [Big Grin]

I tested their ammo in 30-06 in a Rem 7400. It was exceptionally accurate ( in a Rem 7400 ! ). I shoot it now in my Win 70 Supergrade.

Their ammo in 9 mm and 45 ACP is also top notch. And its so cheap its hard to justify reloading.

Funny. I've fired hundreds of Sellier & Bellot shotgun (12 and 16 gauge), pistol (9mm Luger), and rifle cartridges (.30-06) without a single malfunction. No failurs to feed, fire, extract, or eject. And certainly no gun destroying explosions [Eek!] .

I have no concerns or hesitation in using and recommending Sellier & Bellot.

They have worked fine for me in 8x57 so I would think they will work well in 9.3x62
