Not a hugely accurate story but perhaps a taste of things to come.

They are spreading throughout the UK but we should put a season on them, I haven't seen one yet though!

I've been very surprised that the population has been growing and spreading so slow, in fact.
In the UK they have natural enemies whatsoever; the climate is very mild, indeed; and there's plenty of food. One'd expect the population simply to explode one a pair or two get into the wild.

Maybe, if more people were able to and did, they'd be less of a problem. Big Grin Ours have been declared a pest and it's worth 50. in your pocket, for shooting one.

Same here - people were referring to a UK-wide population within a few years, but you have to remember that the boar have no closed season or legal protection whatsoever; then remember that the UK has a relatively high number of hunters that are adept at night hunting with spotlight, nightvision and thermal imaging devices and it helps explain the slower than expected population growth.
