German shooting seasons
Help!
Can any of our German friends let me have a link to/information on dates of shooting seasons.
On a recent trip, I was given a 'come anytime' invitation to hunt in the Montabaur/Westerwald region. I am keen to take up the offer - and want an idea of when is best to come over.

1894mk2I think the season shut in 45

Seasons vary from Bundesland to Bundesland (state to state). I have to plead ignorance regarding the exact location of your destination.
What are you intending to hunt?? The main roe seasons are in May, Jul/Aug and September. Red stags are best hunted in the roar (Sep/Oct). Boar is best hunted when there is snow on the ground Nov/Dec. Each species will be different, and it also depends on whether you are looking for male or female animals.
I can provide you with a copy of the seasons in the state of Baden-Wuertemberg, provided you PM me your snail mail address.

Ian, If you don't visit me - I'll be really pissed-off, you'll only be 30 minutes from Montabaer to me, a PM will suffice.
Mike, My old Switzer-Buddy is spot-on - correct it is different from State-to-State.
Generally, although there are some differences:
Roe Deer: May to January, Bucks from May to October - Roe Deer Yearings & Does from May until January.
Fallow & Red Deer: From September to January.
Wild Boar: All year except Mature Boars from 15 January until 15 Jume.
The opportune looks good. Whoever you are dealing with appears realistic!
Montabaur/Westerwald is a a great hunting area with large expanses of forest - go for it. But don't pay a premium!
Net, the Roe Deer rut is basically from the middle of July until the first week of August give or take the weather report!
Get about it - although you will NOT shoot the standard of "Kapitale" Reh Böcke that you shoot in the UK!

- u a bad man - my German wife has just threatened to put on leather and come and beat you!
Mike- Many thanks - got it off the DJV site
http://djv.newsroom.de/recherche/jagduschonzeiten/I believe the grounds come under the Rhein Pfalz district - very nice area indeed.
Gerry - will hold you to that offer and will be in touch. I'm probably looking at a few days early October - before racing over to Norway to chase some Moose around.
Pricing is not an issue , its a family thing

Have to say, I have plenty Deer in this part of the world - my passion is for the Keiler Jagd!
