Some of my guns, just to brag!
The top four rifles I have had for a while, the rest bottom 7 including the Xp-100 I got in trade for the Blaser S-2 a few weeks ago.

The dealer said it was the most stuff he had ever traded for one rifle.

Sako AV Fiberclass 30-06 Zeiss 3-9 American

Blaser R93 Professional 338 Winchester Mag Kahles 3-9 A-line
Blaser R93 Standard 30-06 Kahles 3.5-10x50 A-Line

Nice bunch of guns D99.

I see you have a R93 with the "Professional" stock that has rubber on the grip and forend. I have a friend who is waiting for one of these (but in the very short model with the front sling swivel up at the end of the barrel). How do you find the rubber grips? More comfy than the regular synthetic?

I love the R93 Professional, I am going to buy another one with a match barrel in 300 Winchester.

CZ 550 375 H&H Leupold 2-7 compact.

How many of you have plain utilitarian rifles like mine?

Or do more of you have fancy custom stuff?

Like you, working rifles are my thing.

A man who walks into a hardware store - says to the attendant 'I need a drill bit'....... attendant says 'no Sir, you NEED a hole....you want a drill bit'!

My view of firearms - the priority is what happens at the other end of the range. See that you are taken with the Burris range - assume you are happy with the performance v value.

We have Burris, Zeiss, Kahles, Leupold, Nikon, Swarovski, Barska, and I have a Schmidt and Bender on order.

I like Burris, they are cheaper than Leupold. Brighter than Leupold, and all the insides of a Burris are brass not plastic like Leupold.

They lack a little eye releif, on some models.

The Barska is pretty clear but eye releif is very critical. Price is awesome, Russia need I say more?

D99,
Very nice battery thumb!
I like the Sako stock. It would be perfect on my AV 270 win Wink.
It seems an aftermarket one bewildered.

Could you please give me some more information? manufacturer? weight? bedding?

It's a Sako AV fiberclass. NOt sure how long they made them but it wasn't long. I owned a 375 in this gun to but sold it (big mistake).

McMillan makes the stock if you need one. If you need me to bring you one and you can wait until next summer I can do it. I am going to the states then.

I live in Catania on Sicly.

Thank you D99, but McMillan website shows only Sako stock WITH checkering on the forend and pistol grip.

What I like in your 30-06 stock is the smooth english classic line without checkering.

Here in North Italy, I know a (partime) stockmaker that could dublicate this kind of stock for about 400/450 euro.

Maybe I'll take advantage of your kindness to import some riflescope Wink

Spain and then Catania? Seems that Uncle Sam want you stay in hot location Cool!

Gams,

The heat kills me. At least in Catania it will be drier than in Andalucia. It's not really humid in Andalucia but it's not dry either, well at least on the ocean.

I am going to spend 2 weeks home with my daughter in August, and hopefully a week in Poland, Romania, CZ, or Estonia hunting roebuck and wildboar.

The original Sako fiberclass stocks were made by McMillan but I think it was too much of a pain in the ass for Sako to import stocks.

Their are other American makers let me know what you need.

I guess I am a lost cause mate.

I want to build a 500 Jefferys mauser, but it's going to be on the block for a while.

Westley Richards in Bozeman has a 585 Nyati in a Johanson mauser I want.

D99 and Gamsjager:

The SAKO Fiberclass model was introduced 1986 and discontinued around 1991. It was built on the AV action even though I have a catalogue with Fiberclass built on AI and AII actions.
McMillan made the stocks and they were usually black with a pebbely texture. They are now discontinued. Some stocks have a very smooth surface and other colours were available. I have just bought a 30-06 with a stainless barrel and a white stock. All original. Stainless barrels was an option here in Europe as were the colours.
There was even a Handy version with a shorter barrel(18,5"). Fiberclass came with or without sights.

Here comes a list of actions and calibers. I don´t know if SAKO ever made all of these but I have found this info in different SAKO catalogues:

AI: 17 Rem, 222 Rem, 223 Rem
AII: 22-250 Rem, 243 Win, 7mm-08, 308 Win
AV: 25-06, 6x55, 270 Win, 280 Rem, 7x64, 30-06
AV: 7mm Rem Mag, 300 Win Mag
AV: 300 Weath Mag, 338 Win Mag,9,3x62,375H&H, 416 Rem Mag

SAKO never made it easy to track the different models they made!! That´s for sure!!

If someone out there ever find Fiberclass related material such as ads, catalogues, stocks, butpads or whatever. Just send me a message!!

Regards

Jim

Jimbo, since you have the Fiberclass 375, you should hook me up with that 9.3x62. Cool

I should have kept my fiberclass 375.

One of my great gun blunders. I will say though the damn thing new how to kick.

I was going to do some work on it but I never got around to it.

D99 - how does R93 Professional stock feel - compared to R93 offroad?
08 November 2005, 15:40

I think it feels heavier? But I love it. I want to get another one with a fat barrel channel for the 45 Blaser and a 300 Mag match barrel.

Ergonomics are very similar, and I love the palm swell.

Actually you need a drill bit to make the hole
