Arild IversenRed deer on the island of Rum
Just finished watching a piece on Nat Geo Wild from The Hebrides.
Stunning landscapes and nature, lots of birds, otters, seals and deer.
What really surprised me was the red deer on the island of Rum.
They were all out in the open grassy landscape and the beaches in broad daylight.
Some great footage was taken of big stags in rut.
So very different from our local red deer here on the North West coast of Norway, which are more or less nocturnal.
I really enjoyed the program and found it proper to have a wee dram of Bowmore Surf to see med trough

Fallow BuckHey Arild,
Yes stalking reds in the highlands is a very civilised affair, with your gillie collecting you at about 9am to head out on the hill.
Civilised that is until you have to crawl up a river to get a shot!!!
