The caribous live in the east and southeast part of Iceland boxed in between big glacier rivers thus dont travel to other parts of the country!
With my luck this is the third year in a row i dont get a deer from the draw!

As Ben says, the Reindeer is confined more or less in the eastern highlands, venturing down on lowlands during winter.
The terrain varies between hunting zones, can be very flat and thus requires long crawls, or can be like steep rocky valleys and everything inbetween. No vegetation one can use for cover, just mosses, grasses and lichen.
Temperatures can be expected to be around say 8-10°C but do not under any circumstances rely on the weather being in any certain fashion, it simply isnt so up there or anywhere in the Icelandic highlands for that matter. I have been lucky myself regarding weather, but one can expect any kind of weather.
The season is 1. Aug to 15. Sep.
Calibers used for this kind of hunting are 6-8mm, typically 243Win, 6.5x55, 270Win 7mm-08, 7mmRM and the various .30´s.
It is a very plesarurable hunt (in my mind) offering very nice trips especially for those who are into nature and landscape.
Thirsty people...dont know where that comes from

Monastery-ForesterGBF, I have a lot of icelandic friends(hestamenna), they all like the Black Death and similar liquids from Germany, Poland and Russia!
The caribou-area is it at the Hornafjördur-Area?
Some of my horses are born at Skagafjördur-Vallanesi in the north-west!
