Best Scottish Hill Stag Stalking
I am looking for the best experience, best trophies, best wild stalking over the crags and best of everything.

Forget cost or anything else, I am looking for the absolute best there is.

What can you fellows with experience recommend?

BTW, if I can't afford it, I'll cry. But don't let that stop you. Big Grin

Most Euros seem to use www.diana.dk. I think you should be able to whack a stag a day for a week for $3000-4000 plus airfare.

Some will be cheaper, some will be more. 2 stags for 5 days for $2600ish.

mrlexma,

You can pretty much halve that numebr by going directly to the estates.

Stags are about £300 each ($600)but most places will only quote you for cull animals. Some of the bigger estates will have some trophy stags available but the cost will usually be much higher.

IMO thats not true. In Europe there are plenty of Agenys the are cheaper working than Diana Hunting Tours with the same Service.

Gents,

£300 to £350 per day seems to be the going "commercial" rate for stag stalking in Scotland...

I suspect that once you add accomadation and food ect into FB's £300 per day, both quotes are pretty similar...

6 days stalking @ £300 per day equals £1800..add 7 nights accomadation & food ect at say £50 per night, tht takes you to around £2150 which is about $4300...

My own gut feeling is that if I bought six days stalking at those prices I would expect at least one decent wall hanger in for the price...

With the increase culls being imposed by the Deer Commission Scotland over recent years, its important to check recent references for any Estate. It seems that in some places culling has dramatically reduced the herds and what were fantastic Estates 5 years ago, are now pretty average..

Pete

mrlexma,

If you can get a mixed party together, you might want to take a look at CKD Galbraith

This is a well established letting company and you can rent anything from a large holiday cottage to a Scottish Castle with them..

You should be able to find a package that gives say two stags, plus rough shooting and fishing for the week for perhaps a party of 6 to 10...The prices look expensive on the face of it but when you divide the cost between the number in the party it often works out quite reasonable.

Regards,

Pete

Balnagown I know, geographically I live in the middle of all three estates. They belong to Mohammed Al Fayed, the man who owns Harrods. Everything about them has been done in a no expense spared manner. They are beautiful, well maintained, in a magnificent location with some grest sporting opportunities. Anything more specific, let me know and I will try and help.
